Tiger Bush Panic

posted by jack at 19:55 CET in / compute / programming / bushpanic feed

I've just released BushPanic 1.0.1. This is a bugfix release, so far built only for Mac. The bugs fixed are:

  • The last level was inherently unwinnable. You couldn't even really get a fair start. This is fixed.
  • The 1.0.0 release turned out to not work on Mac OS X 10.4 ("Tiger"). This is now fixed.

Go to the BushPanic page to download the latest badness.

Well after my depression was over, and I have recovered. I updated to 10.4.x and decided to go kick Bushes Ass once again, since we didn't do it for real, but BP would not start. So I went to the site (here) and downloaded 1.0.1 and it won't start, the icon flashes and then that's it. I'm jonesing to kick some Bush, but I can't, can you tell me why?

This IS a fun Game, keep them coming!

P.S. I trashed 1.0 before I DLed 1.0.1 G5 dual2ghz, 10.4.6 Jim

Hey Jim,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble running BushPanic. It still works OK for me on 10.4.6... What happens when you try to launch it, does it just do a very quick bounce in the dock and then disappear? How about if you launch Console.app, do you see anything there?

Or, do you get a "BushPanic has unexpectedly quit" error panel? If so, hit the "Report" button, then copy the whole error text out and paste it in a comment here.

It really *should* be working, no one else has reported a problem in the past year... Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this!

HA! Just caught this when you submitted it to TechTracker (I'm the one who edited the listing) and promptly added a post on my own blog pointing back to you.

Very nice bit of Python programming. Being a master programmer myself (at least 1000 lines of Basic in my career) I appreciate these things. Lovely touches with the weaponry. You rule.
